Oktoberfest and Open Weekend Sailing - The Event

Step up for your ration of grog by combining a day at the Qinhuangdao Oktoberfest Beer Festival with time on the water. The Beijing Sailing Center cordially invite you sailing and, for this weekend only, the temporary membership fee is waived. The Beijing Sailing Center is the exclusive training center and marina bringing the international world of sailing to North China.

Oktoberfest - The Details

  • Oktoberfest in Qinhuangdao is organised each year by the Holiday Inn, the only 5-star hotel in the area, in a marquee between the hotel and the beach.
  • The Oktoberfest runs from Saturday 14 to Monday16 September 2008 Please note that the dates of this event have been rescheduled!
  • Your day ticket costs RMB 388, which includes
    • Grand buffet dinner
    • Unlimited free local beer (Qingdao, Snow & Bull)
    • Limited.free German beer
    • The show
    • A ticket for the lucky prize draw

Open Sailing Weekend - The Details

  • Come and try sailing at our Open Sailing Weekend from Saturday 30 to Sunday 31 August 2008
  • Our qualified Royal Yachting Association instructors will explain to you how to make a sail boat work, then we launch the boats and get you out on the water.
  • To start with we sail inside the harbour, so that you can get used to the controls and how a sail boat works.
  • Then, when you are comfortable, we head out onto the open sea to enjoy full maritime experience.
  • After your sailing experience, enjoy lunch and BBQ dinner at the Beijing Sailing Center with evening entertainment.
  • Your RMB 299 ticket includes
    • Sailing experience (minimum 1 hour)
    • Lunch and BBQ dinner
    • Evening entertainment

What to Bring

  • Swimsuit, beach shorts and shirt
  • Hat and sunglasses (preferably with a lanyard)
  • Crocs, beach shoes or an old pair of trainers.
  • Suntan lotion and insect repellent
  • Rain jacket and jumper (just in case!)
  • Beach towel and soap
  • If you are in the tents, then bring a sleeping bag and a flashlight
  • We provide international standard lifejackets, wetsuits and helmets

Travel & Accommodation Plan

  • To travel by train, buy tickets from Beijing main station to Beidaihe or Qinhuangdao.
  • The D trains are the express trains and usually take 2 hours or less.
  • We can help you with best rates in local hotels, return tickets and pick up from the station, just ask.

Cost & Terms

  • RMB 388 per person Oktoberfest ticket.
  • RMB 299 per person for Open Sailing Weekend ticket.

  • Facilities at the Beijing Sailing Center are functional, but basic, with lockers, changing rooms and showers for each sex and unisex portable toilets.
